Illinois Holds First Online Lottery

If the lottery player enters the verification code and confirms their location, they are considered to be within the state borders.
Illinois became the first US state to offer online lotteries
The first lottery ticket was purchased online in Illinois on Sunday morning. Illinois has been one of the early lottery states to offer online ticket sales. The lottery was created in 1996 by Ralph Batch, a pioneer in the early North American lottery industry. Since then, the Illinois Lottery has continued to be a pioneer in many ways. In 2011, the state lottery became the first to outsource its operations to a private company. Northstar Lottery Group won a competitive bidding process and now operates the Illinois Lottery.
New Jersey
There have been a few concerns over the introduction of the New Jersey online lottery in New Jersey. Many convenience store owners were worried that their sales would suffer because consumers would no longer have the chance to purchase physical lottery tickets. Other concerns were the sales of food and drinks in the stores. Assemblywoman Annette Quijano was one of the main proponents of the legislation. She was concerned that people would become less reliant on physical products as the internet continued to develop.
